How long does shipping a container to Dubai from the UK take?
The average times for sea freight to Dubai from the UK are 5-7 weeks for a full container load service (FCL) and 7-10 weeks for a shared container (this is sometimes also referred to as LCL – less than container load). These are approximations only and you’ll also need to plan in added time for customs clearance and final delivery.
Transit times will vary depending on which shipping option you’ve chosen and where in Dubai or the UAE your final destination is. Part load (LCL) container shipping will take longer than full container load as with part load, various customers’ belongings need to be grouped together to fit one single container. - Self-Pack (you pack) consignments cover costs 5% of the total insurable value you declare.
- Baggage/Airfreight consignments, which are owner packed, will cost 5% of the total insurable value you declare.

Customs clearance when importing your container into Dubai
As part of our Dubai shipping service we will take care of everything for you from door to door. This includes exporting your container from the United Kingdom and importing it into Dubai.
Our shipping quote includes basic customs clearance but not taxes, import duties and other customs charges such as any quarantine fees.
If we pack your container for you then we will compile a customs inventory on your behalf and we will also advise you of what other shipping documents are required.
