What Factors Could Affect My Parcel Delivery Times?

1 answer

PSS always aims to get your parcel delivered on time no matter what size your load is. However, it pays to be aware of Germany’s public holidays when planning your move to factor in any delays accordingly. You can take a look at upcoming public holidays in Germany here. You should also be aware of any extreme weather conditions that might affect the timing of your parcel delivery.

What is the Best Way to Send Multiple Parcels to Germany?

1 answer

If you have several items to send to Germany such as loads of more than ten boxes or household moves that our usual parcel service doesn’t cover, our removals to Germany service should meet your needs.

What is the German Address Format When Sending From the UK?

1 answer

German postal address formats take a similar format to UK addresses. When addressing a parcel for sending to Germany you should include the following:

  • Include the house number after the street name
  • Put the 5-digit postcode before the town name
  • Write ‘GERMANY’ in caps under the address

PSS’s parcel shipping service will take care of making sure your items get to the right place and will discuss any requirements with you ahead of time.

What Can and Can’t You Send to Germany?

1 answer

Some common items that are prohibited from sending to Germany include:

Customs Guide for Sending Personal Effects to Germany

1 answer

With the UK leaving the European Union, customs requirements including customs documentation, customs charges, processes, duties and taxes are subject to change. They will also depend on whether you are a UK citizen, have residential status or are an expat/citizen from Germany. Therefore, we recommend that you check the latest customs requirements for importing your belongings in our FIDI Customs Guide for Germany.

Your PSS Move Manager will also be able to advise on the latest customs requirements for Germany. Contact our team to find out more.

How Does Delivery to My Address in Germany Work?

1 answer

Once your goods have been released by German customs we’ill contact you to arrange a suitable delivery day.
Once we’ve received clearance of your goods we’ll deliver your package directly to your new home. Our unloading crew will place your items in the rooms of your choice if necessary and unwrap and remove the packing material from any furniture.

Do I Need Shipment Protection Cover?

1 answer

We highly advise you to take out shipment protection cover before sending items to Germany from the UK. Although problems are not likely, it’s still wise to have cover when sending goods overseas, especially for items of significant financial value.

PSS International offers very flexible Shipment Protection Plans. You can cover your whole shipment or choose the individual items you wish to cover. Your PSS Move Manager can explain the different options available and guide you through completing the Shipment Protection Valuation form.
