The costs will also depend on the volume of goods being sent for your house move. Most of our customers will use a shared vehicle for a low-cost removals service. However, for large moves to the Netherlands, a dedicated lorry may be used.

When is payment due and will I have to pay a deposit?

Our payment terms are 7 days before removal day and we require a £350 deposit when booking your removal.

Are there additional charges?

All of our estimates are quoted as a door-to-door service. This service includes the standard custom clearance as well as other related charges. All related charges information will be clearly listed in your removals quote and explained to you by your Account Manager.

Part Load Removals or Dedicated Load Service to The Netherlands?

Our professional moving services include part load or dedicated load. Most people who move to the Netherlands use our part load removals service which is especially useful for small removals. Your belongings are loaded onto a removals van or larger European road train to be sent via road freight to your destination.

This enables you to share the costs and benefits from economies of scale – even with small removals. This service does however take longer to arrive.

Alternatively, if you have a large move to the Netherlands, you can use our dedicated removal service or full load service. You will have your own lorry with a crew. This allows for greater flexibility and is a lot faster.

Do I Need Shipment Protection Cover or Removals Insurance to the Netherlands?

Our policy is quick and easy to set up, simply complete our Shipment Protection valuation form with the items you would like to cover and their values.

Actual costs are calculated as a percentage of the value you wish to cover. These vary depending on whether it’s self-packed or packed by professional overseas movers. For more information speak to one of our advisers.

What Documentation is Required When I Move To the Netherlands?

Your dedicated Move Manager will advise you on the required shipping documents and help you with their completion. Example documents required are:

Residency Visa (valid for minimum of 12 months)
Work Permit (valid for minimum of 12 months)
Removal inventory (PSS will prepare this if PSS are packing)

What Can't You Take to the Netherlands? Restricted and Prohibited Items

Like most countries, the Netherlands has a list of products and goods that are either prohibited or have restrictions on importation.

We highly recommend you check the Netherlands FIDI Customs Guide for information on what can and cannot be imported into the country.

Failure to do so can result in your shipment being delayed in customs, refused entry or you may have to pay fines or fees for disposal of items.

Can I Ship my Car, Motorbike or Other Vehicle?

We are able to help you ship vehicles overseas including cars, motorcycles, motorhomes and caravans to the Netherlands. They can be transported in the same vehicle or container as your household goods or sent separately.

There are a number of factors you need to consider when importing cars into the Netherlands, so we suggest you speak to one of our advisers or visit our Netherlands vehicle shipping page for more information.

Customs Clearance

When your belongings in arrive in the Netherlands they will need to pass through customs. Requirements will vary depending on whether you are a British citizen, a non-EU citizen, an EU citizen or a national returning home.

Fortunately, as part of our service, we will handle the customs clearance process on your behalf.

For household removals and shipping of personal effects, depending on your status, you may not have to pay customs duty and taxes on all items.

There may be some additional charges such as inspection fees charges you need to pay to the local customs authorities. These vary and so are not included in your shipping quote.

There will be some forms you need to complete and other documentation you need to provide as evidence.
