What is veichle access?
Ensuring your property has viechle access is extremely important, as it tends to be one of the most common causes of additional charges on moving day, because if the main vehicle, typically a large HGV with shipping container or articulated lorry, cannot get close enough to your property, a smaller shuttle vehicle must be used to ferry goods between your door and the main lorry.
Common access problems include: narrow country lanes, height-restricted roads or car parks, weight-restricted bridges, no-parking zones or double yellow lines outside the property, private estates with gated entry, properties at the top of steep hills, and high-floor apartments without a service lift.
PSS charges a shuttle fee when a secondary vehicle is required due to access restrictions. The cost depends on the number of shuttle trips required.
PSS Tip: Always tell your PSS move manager about any access restrictions at your UK collection address and at your destination property when booking. If we know in advance, we can plan for them — if we find out on moving day, additional charges may apply, and delays are likely.
