What is an Accreditation?
An accreditation is a formal recognition by an independent industry body that a removal or shipping company meets defined professional standards. Accreditations require companies to pass audits, maintain insurance, employ trained staff, and follow codes of practice. They protect customers by ensuring that accredited companies have been independently verified rather than simply self-declared as competent.
The key accreditations in international removals are:
- BAR (British Association of Removers) — the UK’s primary trade body for removal companies, requiring vetting and regular audit.
- FIDI FAIM — the international gold standard for removal companies worldwide, requiring comprehensive independent audit every three years.
- IAM (International Association of Movers) — a major North American and global removals trade association.
- Euromovers — a quality network of European removal companies operating to common professional standards.
