What is the Advanced Payment Guarantee Scheme?
The Advanced Payment Guarantee Scheme (APG) is a consumer protection scheme operated by the British Association of Removers (BAR) that protects customers’ advance payments if a BAR member company becomes insolvent before or during a move. If a customer has paid a deposit or paid in full to a BAR member and that company ceases trading, the APG scheme ensures the money is protected and can be recovered, or the move completed, by another BAR member company. The scheme is funded by BAR members and administered by a third-party insurance provider. Only payments made to BAR-registered companies are covered.
