What is an airway bill?
An airway bill is a document that accompanies a shipment sent by air freight. Issued by the airline or freight forwarder, it serves as the contract of carriage, a receipt for the goods, and a customs declaration document for air shipments. The Airway Bill is the air freight equivalent of a Bill of Lading. Unlike a Bill of Lading, an Airway Bill is non-negotiable; ownership of the goods cannot be transferred by endorsing the document.
