What is used to pack antiques?
We use specialist packing techniques and materials to protect antiques, fine art, heirlooms, and items of exceptional value or fragility during international transit. Standard removal packing is not sufficient for genuinely valuable or irreplaceable items. Antique packing typically involves:
- Individual wrapping in acid-free tissue paper
- Multiple layers such as paper, bubble wrap and cardboard
- Padding with specialist foam or archival materials
- Custom timber crating for large or particularly fragile items
- Double-boxing for ceramics and porcelain
PSS Tip: If you have antiques, fine art, or valuable collections, tell your PSS surveyor at the home survey. We can assess each item individually and recommend appropriate specialist packing. Photograph all valuable items before packing as a record of their pre-move condition.
