What is bubble wrap?
Bubble wrap is a flexible plastic packing material consisting of air-filled bubbles sealed between layers of polyethylene film. Bubble wrap cushions and protects items during transit. Different grades are available:
- Small bubble (10mm): best for wrapping individual fragile items such as glasses, ceramics, and ornaments
- Large bubble (25mm+): better for padding larger items and filling voids in boxes
- Anti-static bubble wrap: required for electronic components to prevent static discharge damage
Also known as: Bubblewrap, air bubble wrap
PSS Tip: Bubble wrap alone is not sufficient protection for fragile items on an international move. Wrap each item individually, then pack firmly in a double-walled box with additional fill so nothing can shift during six to ten weeks at sea.
