What is a consignment note?
A consignment note is a transport document issued by a road freight carrier confirming that goods have been received for carriage and setting out the terms of their transport. The consignment note is the road transport equivalent of a Bill of Lading for sea freight. For European road freight removals, the standard international consignment note is the CMR (Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road).
