What is a customs seal?
A customs seal, otherwise known as a container seal, is a tamper-evident numbered device is applied to a shipping container after it has been loaded and closed, preventing it from being opened without visible evidence of tampering. The seal number is recorded on the Bill of Lading and customs documentation. A broken or replaced seal may trigger a physical inspection of the container contents.
