What is an electrical derangement?
An electrical or mechanical derangement is the standard exclusion in most removal and marine insurance policies, covering the failure of electrical or mechanical components where the failure is not caused by a visible external impact or physical damage to the item. In plain English: if your washing machine stops working after a move but there is no visible physical damage, the insurer will likely attribute this to a pre-existing issue or the shock of transit — and deny the claim.
Also known as: Mechanical failure, electrical failure exclusion
PSS Tip: PSS can offer extended cover for electrical or mechanical derangement. Please speak to your Move Manager for more details. .
