What is goods and service tax?

Goods and service tax (GST) is a value-added consumption tax is applied in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore, and many other countries. For household removals, personal effects brought in by a resident relocating generally qualify for GST exemption, provided they have been owned and used for at least 12 months. New or unused goods, and commercially imported goods, are subject to GST at the applicable rate.
