Insurance inventory

What is an insurance inventory?

An insurance inventory is a detailed list of the items being shipped, prepared specifically for insurance purposes, with an estimated replacement value assigned to each item or category. Used to: establish the total declared value of the shipment for insurance premium calculation; provide a pre-move record for use in a future claim; and in some countries, provide a value declaration for customs purposes.

It is different from the customs value declaration.

Also known as: Valuation list, goods valuation schedule, insurance schedule

PSS Tip: Complete the insurance inventory honestly and thoroughly. Make sure the value is the equivalent replacement value as policies are usually like for like rather than new for old. It is also useful to keep receipts or other evidence of the value.
