A large, heavy-duty wooden or plywood crate — approximately the size of a small container — used to ship household goods internationally, particularly in the USA and Canada. Lift-vans hold approximately 200–300 cubic feet (approximately 6–8 CBM) each. For larger shipments, multiple lift-vans may be used. They are gradually being replaced by standard ISO shipping containers in most markets.
