What is limited liability cover?
Limited liability cover is the most basic level of financial protection for goods in transit is provided by the removal company as a standard element of the service contract. Under limited liability cover, in the event of loss of or damage to your goods caused by negligence or breach of contract on the part of the removal company, their liability to you is to be assessed as a sum equivalent to the cost of their repair or replacement, taking into account their age and condition immediately prior to their loss or damage, subject to a maximum liability of £40 per item.
PSS Tip: Do not rely on limited liability cover to protect your goods. For peace of mind, PSS strongly recommends standard liability Shipment Protection Cover or other marine insurance for your belongings. The premium is small relative to the potential loss.
