What is a parking suspension?
A parking suspension or parking exemption is a temporary order issued by the local council that suspends normal parking restrictions on a section of public road for a defined period. Used on moving day to create a guaranteed space for the removal vehicle and shipping container directly outside the property. The process:
- PSS or the customer applies to the relevant local council at least 5–10 working days before moving day
- The council issues a suspension order and places “No Parking” signs at the location on the agreed date
- Any vehicles parked in the suspended zone on moving day may be fined and/or towed
- The cost of a parking suspension varies by council and the amount of space required — typically £50–£150 per day
