What are personal effects?
Personal effects are items belonging to an individual that are for their personal and household use, as opposed to goods being imported for commercial purposes. Personal effects that have been owned and used for at least 12 months prior to importation generally qualify for duty-free import when the owner is relocating to live in the destination country.
