What is shipping documentation?

Shipping documentation is the complete set of documents required to ship goods internationally. For a household removal this typically includes:

  • Packing inventory (detailed list of all items and their estimated values)
  • Bill of Lading or Sea Waybill (issued by the shipping line)
  • Customs declaration forms for the destination country
  • Export declaration (for UK customs, if applicable)
  • Certificate of insurance or policy schedule
  • Copy of passport and proof of address
  • Visa or residency documentation
  • For vehicles: V5C, MOT certificate, insurance documents
  • Cleanliness declaration (for Australia, New Zealand, and other biosecurity-sensitive destinations)

PSS helps prepare you and guide you through completing any necessary documentation.

Also known as: Removal documentation, shipping paperwork, export documents

PSS Tip: Review and complete all documentation carefully before moving day. Errors in documentation are the most common cause of customs delays. Your shipment cannot leave until all documentation is complete.
