What is standard liability cover?
The most basic financial protection included in a removal contract is under which the removal company accepts a defined level of responsibility for loss or damage. Standard Liability Cover is a weight-based system that pays a fixed amount per kilogram of goods lost or damaged, regardless of the actual value. For a household shipment worth £30,000–£60,000, the maximum liability under standard conditions might be only £4,000–£5,000.
Also known as: Basic liability, carrier’s liability
PSS Tip: Do not confuse Standard Liability Cover with insurance. All-risks marine insurance is the appropriate protection for an international removal — it covers the full replacement value of your goods.
