What is storange in transit?
Storage in transit (SIT) is a temporary storage of goods at a removal company’s warehouse during the course of a removal, where there is a gap between collection from the origin address and delivery to the destination address. SIT is a short-term holding arrangement as part of the active removal process. It arises when:
- There is a gap between the customer’s UK moving-out date and the next available sailing
- The goods arrive at the destination port before the customer’s new property is ready
- Customs clearance at the destination takes longer than expected
PSS includes a period of free SIT in the UK for goods awaiting the next scheduled sailing.
