What is volume?
Volume is the total three-dimensional space occupied by a shipment, measured in cubic feet (CBF) or cubic metres (CBM). Volume is the primary factor in calculating the cost of sea freight for household removals. Rough volume guides by property type:
- 1 x standard book carton: 1.9 cubic feet
- 1 x standard suitcase: 3.4 cubic feet
- 1 x standard tea carton: 4.4 cubic feet
- 1 x 20ft shipping container: 1000 cubic feet
- 1 x 40ft shipping container: 2000 cubic feet
