When your belongings in arrive in Vietnam they will need to pass through customs. This can be a complicated and difficult process if you are not familiar with international shipping and removals.

Fortunately, as part of our service, our agents in Vietnam will handle all the customs clearances processes on your behalf.

For household removals and shipping of personal effects, you may not have to pay customs duty and taxes on all items.

There may be some additional charges such as inspection fees and quarantine charges you need to pay to the local customs authorities. These vary and so are not included in your shipping quote.

There will be some forms you need to complete and other documentation you need to provide as evidence.

Household goods and personal effects

All shipments, except diplomatic, are subject to physical inspection and to import duties/taxes, even for temporarily imports.

Work permits are required to import personal effects shipments, except for air shipment weighing less than 300kgs gross.

Duty is calculated based on the tariff provided by the Ministry of Finance.

Shippers are allowed to import 1 sea and 1 air shipment. Exceptions can be made on a case by case basis.

Air shipments MUST arrive within 30 days of the shipper’s arrival to Vietnam.

Arrival / Departure Declaration:

• The shipper MUST complete this when they arrive at the Vietnam airport and have it signed and stamped by customs.
• One card is required per shipment.
• Shipper should declare either 1 sea or 1 air shipment on each card as relevant
• Write “Y” when answering “Any unaccompanied baggage” question.
• This is strictly required for customs clearance and will also help alleviate VND 5,000,000 in taxes/duties (approx. US$ 215).
